The full changelog outlining the many improvements in TWRP's decryption support can be found below, but for users, the most important change will be the new way to install the custom recovery. Currently, installing TWRP on a device with A/B partitions requires booting TWRP temporarily and then installing it permanently using an installer script. Going forward, users will be presented with a new "install recovery ramdisk" option in recovery. This means that users can boot TWRP and then install it without downloading a separate ZIP file. XDA Senior Recognized Developer Dees_Troy worked with XDA Recognized Developer topjohnwu to make this possible by adapting Magisk's boot image patching for TWRP. Dees_Troy says the team will offer installer ZIPs this time around to give people a chance to update from older versions, but future TWRP releases won't have separate installer scripts.

You can download the latest build of the custom recovery for your device from the official website below. Version 3.3.0-0 will be built for all supported devices, so if your device is currently being maintained then you should see an update in a few hours or days. There are about 450 devices in the build box, though, so some devices may fail to build. Be sure to check the XDA forum for your device as the TWRP maintainer for your device may post updates when the build goes live.

Lastly, be sure to download the official app from Google Play. The app will alert you when new versions of the custom recovery are available. It'll also let you download the latest version right from your device.

Once you have downloaded the required TWRP recovery IMG file for your phone, you can proceed to this part. Here we explain the tutorial on how to install TWRP recovery on Google Pixel and Nexus devices. We highly recommend you to read through the entire guide first before actually flashing it on your phone.

To anyone that has read this article, I am trying to save you from breaking your phone. There is a very flawed piece of information in this article. In the download section, the Pixel 3 is listed as crosshatch and the Pixel 3 XL is listed as blue line. Those are opposite. Cross hatch is actually the Pixel 3 XL and blue line is the Pixel 3. If you install crosshatch update on a blue line or vice versa it will break your phone. So make sure you download the right one.

To install a custom recovery, TWRP is recommended. You can download the image from "TWRP for pollux" or "TWRP for pollux_windy" (again: Chose the correct version for your device or it won't boot anymore if you install the wrong version!).

As of this writing I downloaded LineageOS 15.1 (= Android 8.1), nightly build from 2019-12-09. It's also a wise idea to download all the Google Apps which include important packages such as Google Play. The bundle can be downloaded in several variants using OpenGapps.

Hello Dan. The error message you get could be related to a bug in a certain version of fastboot - at least that is what I found online so far. See also cannot flash boot partition with fastboot on 96boards and Error using fastboot flash... on reddit. Maybe try it, as suggested on the first link, using fastboot flash boot_a twrp-3.3.1-0-pollux.img. If that does not work, maybe try a different version of fastboot or give a Linux Live CD (such as Linux Mint) a shot.

HI, this is a really great guide but I'm stuck on the install of twrp. I'm using Windows, and when I try to fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-0-pollux.img I keep getting an error message "fastboot: error: Couldn't parse partition size '0x'."I can't work out why this is happening, would you be able to help?

Congratulations, now you have rooted your Samsung Galaxy A7 2016 and also have TWRP Recovery installed. Now, you can now install the Xposed Framework, and customize your device as per your preference. If you wish to verify that your device is rooted, download Root Checker app to check your device Root Status.

Fortunately, the official TWRP is now available to download for the Mi 9T Pro. Since the build is official now, you can expect a stable version with all working features, including data partition decryption, MTP, Nandroid backups, and more. Moreover, it supports the latest Android 10 on Mi 9T Pro.

Another great thing about rooting the phone or tablet would mean that your backup will be improved and restored very easily. Rooting the device helps your device to back up every single thing that you have on your device and not just the app downloads and some special settings.

Make sure you have correctly installed Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro USB Driver on your computer. If not, please download from any official source and install it correctly. Otherwise, your computer will not detect your device.
